We source to order. Here is what that means for you.
We don’t buy ahead and sell from a warehouse. We agree a specification with you, then buy that lot from a partner supplier we already work with.
The trade-off is honest: a little more time before shipment, in exchange for a lot bought to your specification.
What source-to-order gives you
A lot selected for your contract, not the oldest stock in a warehouse. Samples come from the lot you will receive.
A price built from the supplier’s current price, so the quotation reflects the market at the time you ask.
What it asks of you
Time. Between contract and loading, allow for the supplier to prepare and sort the lot. We state the shipment window on every quotation. TBC
A clear specification. The more precisely you state grade, moisture and packing, the more precisely we can quote.
Six steps, in writing at each one.
Every step ends with a document you can keep: an inquiry, a quotation, a sample note, a contract, an inspection record, a shipping set.
- 01
Inquiry
Product, form or grade, quantity, destination port, Incoterm and target shipment month. Tell us if this is a one-off or a repeat requirement.
Document: your inquiry
- 02
Supplier check and quotation
We confirm with the partner supplier that the grade and volume are available in your window. Then we send a quotation with price basis, validity and shipment period. If we can only meet part of the request, the quotation says which part.
Document: written quotation
- 03
Samples
Drawn from the supplier’s current lot and sent by courier. Sample quantity and courier cost are agreed first.
Document: sample note with lot reference
- 04
Contract and payment
The sales contract fixes the specification, quantity tolerance, packing, Incoterm, shipment period and payment terms.
Document: signed sales contract
- 05
Inspection and loading
We check the lot against the contract before it is loaded and photograph the stuffing. You may appoint an independent surveyor at your cost.
Document: inspection record and loading photos
- 06
Documents and shipment
Shipping documents are sent as agreed in the contract: by courier, by email, or through the bank for an L/C.
Document: shipping document set
How a supplier joins the list.
Our working rules. TBC
- We visit before we offer. A commodity appears on this site only after we have seen the supplier’s sorting, drying and storage.
- We test a trial lot. Moisture and grade on a sample, before the first export quotation.
- We keep a lot record. Each shipment is traced to the supplier and the date it was prepared.
- We say what we don’t know. If a parameter hasn’t been measured, the quotation says “to be tested”, not a guess.
What comes with the shipment.
The standard set, and what can be added if your market requires it.
